Release 19.11

ProductWriter and the RTE r19.11 will be released to the market on December 15th, 2008.

This release of the RTE and ProductWriter will address a rare issue in how the RTE handles complex, restricted looping rules. It also includes some improvements to memory handling within the RTE.

We are recommending that all insurers and integrators upgrade to this release.

To minimise the impact on insurers and integrators we will continue to maintain Polaris dictionaries at r18.00 until the end of March 2009. Following this Polaris dictionaries will be supported on release 19.11.

Further information on these changes can be found in the following sections.

Complex Looping Rules – RGK7P

This release resolves an issue in the RTE following the implementation of BW1258P in release 19.00.

The change for BW1258P, to correct the handling of complex, restricted performs in looping rules, has had the effect of not maintaining a restricted loop further down a Perform stack. When a current instance restriction was applied to an object the restriction was not maintained when the object was re-encountered.

The below example uses the Premises – Premises Cover – Premises Cover Breakdown hierarchy.

The rules show that the nested loops, loop around the following objects –

Rule 1 (loop on Premises)

   Perform Rule 2

Rule 2 – (loop on Premises Cover Breakdown)

Perform for current instance Rule 3

Rule 3 – (loop on Premises Cover)

Perform for current instance Rule 4

Rule 4 – (loop on Premises Cover Breakdown)

Rule 2 applies a current instance restriction on Premises Cover Breakdown. This restriction should be maintained in Rule 4 and only check the rule against the current instance. At release 19.00 this is not the case. The restriction is not applied and Rule 4 loops through all occurrences of Premises Cover Breakdown. This would only occur in the rare situation where you are performing repeated ‘perform for current instance’ statements and are referencing a child object of a parent that also contains a ‘perform for current instance’.

Polaris Dictionary Upgrade

To minimise the impact to insurers and integrators we will not be upgrading the Polaris dictionaries to release 19.00 in January 2009.

Instead we will continue to maintain dictionaries at release 18.00 until the end of March 2009 when they will be upgraded to r19.11.

Following this date it will not be possible to install/import these dictionaries or skeletons onto machines still at older versions of ProductWriter (e.g. r19.00/ r18.00).

Memory Handling

This release includes a number of minor improvements to memory handling within the RTE.

Installation Note – SQL Server Repository

The update to the repository in r19.00 requires users to have database creator authority. Any users whose IT department has removed this authority will need to contact their IT department to get it reinstated prior to upgrading.

This will also apply to users upgrading from r18.00 to r19.11.
